Tesamorelin is a synthetic analogue of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It keeps the full 44-amino-acid sequence of the native hormone and adds a trans-3-hexenoyl group to the N-terminal tyrosine, which protects the peptide from cleavage by dipeptidyl peptidase-IV. That single modification is what makes it worth studying: native GHRH is broken down within minutes, while tesamorelin survives long enough to produce a sustained, pulsatile rise in growth hormone and, downstream, IGF-1. It was developed by Theratechnologies under the code TH9507 and is the active ingredient of the prescription medicine Egrifta, so there is an unusually large body of human trial data for a research peptide.
This vial contains 10mg of lyophilised tesamorelin. Batch #199778 was tested by Janoshik Analytical on 9 July 2026 at ≥99% purity by HPLC with 9.76 mg of measured content, and a separate heavy-metals screen (batch #199779) found no lead, arsenic, cadmium or mercury. Both reports are linked in the specification table.
Key research areas
Visceral adipose tissue. The defining research line. In two phase 3 trials totalling over 800 participants, tesamorelin reduced visceral adipose tissue by around 11–15% over 26 weeks, measured by CT, with the effect reversing after withdrawal. Laboratory work now uses it as the reference compound for GH-axis effects on fat distribution, and for separating visceral from subcutaneous fat responses.
The GH/IGF-1 axis. Because it preserves the physiological pulse pattern rather than delivering a constant GH level, tesamorelin is used in endocrine models to study feedback between GHRH, somatostatin, growth hormone and IGF-1. Trial data show IGF-1 rising within the normal range rather than above it, which is the property most often cited in comparative pharmacology.
Liver fat and metabolic markers. A randomised trial in people with HIV and fatty liver found a reduction in hepatic fat fraction and less progression of fibrosis over 12 months. This has opened a second research direction in non-alcoholic fatty liver models.
Cognition and ageing. A 20-week trial in older adults reported improvements in executive function and verbal memory. Mechanistic work links this to GH-dependent changes in brain GABA and glutamate levels.
Comparative GHRH pharmacology. Tesamorelin is the longest and most stable of the commonly studied GHRH analogues. It is compared with sermorelin (the 1–29 fragment) and CJC-1295 (a substituted 1–29 analogue with a drug-affinity complex) to study how sequence length and modification change receptor binding, half-life and GH pulse shape.
How tesamorelin works
Tesamorelin binds the GHRH receptor on somatotroph cells of the anterior pituitary, raising intracellular cAMP and triggering the synthesis and release of growth hormone. The release remains pulsatile because somatostatin feedback is intact, which distinguishes GHRH analogues from direct growth hormone administration. Growth hormone then acts on the liver to raise IGF-1, and on adipose tissue to increase lipolysis, with visceral fat responding more strongly than subcutaneous fat. The hexenoyl modification does not change receptor affinity; its only role is to slow enzymatic breakdown, which is why tesamorelin is considerably more potent per mg than native GHRH or sermorelin in head-to-head studies.

Sizes and pricing
- 10mg vial — $139.99 (about $14.00 per mg)
Multi-vial pricing (10mg): 2 vials $251.98 (10% off, $125.99 each), 3 vials $367.47 (12.5% off, $122.49 each), 4 vials $475.97 (15% off, $118.99 each). The discount is applied automatically in the cart.
The 10mg size reflects how tesamorelin is used: the trial protocols that most laboratories replicate work in the low-milligram range per dose, so a single vial covers a typical short study arm. For GHRH comparison work, the Sermorelin (5mg) and CJC-1295 No DAC + Ipamorelin vials are the usual partners.
Quality and COA verification
Tesamorelin is a 44-residue peptide, which makes it harder to synthesise cleanly than short peptides and more likely to carry truncated or deletion sequences. That is why we test every batch at Janoshik Analytical before listing it: HPLC establishes purity and quantifies the peptide content in the vial, and mass spectrometry confirms the full-length sequence against its 5135.9 g/mol expected mass. The batch number printed on your vial can be checked against the report on Janoshik's verification portal or in our COA library.
Vials are lyophilised, sealed and held in Australian stock. Orders placed before 12pm on a business day are dispatched the same day on tracked delivery.

Frequently asked questions
How is tesamorelin different from sermorelin?
Sermorelin is the first 29 amino acids of GHRH with no stabilising group, so it is cleared within minutes. Tesamorelin is the full 44-amino-acid sequence with a hexenoyl group that blocks DPP-IV breakdown, giving it a longer half-life and a stronger GH pulse per mg. Both act on the same receptor, which makes them a clean pair for stability and potency comparisons.
How is tesamorelin different from CJC-1295?
CJC-1295 is a 29-residue analogue with four amino-acid substitutions; the DAC version also carries a drug-affinity complex that binds albumin and extends its half-life to days. Tesamorelin keeps the natural sequence and a shorter half-life, so GH release stays closer to the physiological pulse pattern. Researchers choose between them depending on whether a pulsatile or a sustained GH signal is wanted.
What does the clinical research show?
The largest datasets are the two phase 3 trials behind Egrifta, which recorded an 11–15% reduction in visceral adipose tissue over 26 weeks with IGF-1 remaining in the normal range. Later trials reported reduced liver fat over 12 months and improved cognitive scores in older adults over 20 weeks. All of this is human data on the pharmaceutical product; the research peptide supplied here is for laboratory use.
How much is tesamorelin per mg?
$14.00 per mg in the 10mg vial, falling to $11.90 per mg when four vials are ordered together.
How should tesamorelin be reconstituted and stored?
Add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside of the vial and swirl; because it is a long peptide it can take a minute or two to dissolve fully, and it must not be shaken. Store the solution at 2–8°C and use it within 28 days. The lyophilised powder keeps at −20°C long term.
Can you get tesamorelin at a pharmacy or chemist in Australia?
The pharmaceutical form (Egrifta) is a prescription medicine and is not something a retail chemist stocks. The lyophilised research peptide on this page is a laboratory reagent supplied with a batch COA, strictly for in-vitro research, and is not a substitute for a prescribed medicine.
Where can I buy tesamorelin in Australia with a certificate of analysis?
Directly from this page. Omega Peptides Australia holds tesamorelin in domestic stock, tests every batch at Janoshik Analytical and publishes the purity and heavy-metals reports before the vial ships. Orders before 12pm are dispatched the same day.
